Join the Pennsylvania Counseling Services team as a Behavior Therapist (called a Mobile Therapist and Behavior Consultant - MT/BC)!
In this role you will lead our IBHS Team in treatment, which has the goal to provide a comprehensive, individualized and behaviorally focused treatment that assists children in discovering their potential in the home, school and community.
You will function in two different roles in this position based on the treatment recommendations for each client:
- Mobile Therapy (MT)
- Children who receive MT services have behavioral/mental health symptoms that cause them disruption in their functioning
- Children enrolled in MT often have a need for both behavioral interventions as well as therapy
- The specific role of the Mobile Therapist is to set the clinical direction for MT services
- This may include developing the child’s treatment plan, supervising a BHT to provide behavioral interventions to the child and/or providing 1:1 therapy on a weekly basis
- The MT also coordinates with the child’s family to ensure that they are included in supporting the child during the change process
- Behavior Consultation (BC)
- The BC service is most often prescribed for those children who are diagnosed with autism or behavioral difficulties
- In collaboration with school professionals, the child’s family and through direct observation of the child, the BC establish a course of treatment that is carried out by the BHT in the form of behavioral modification techniques
- These child focused interventions help children to change problem behaviors and amplify positive behaviors in their home, school and community
- The BC is always mindful of the role of the child’s family in acquiring the skills necessary to support their child once services have ended and so part of their role is in assisting with the transfer of skills to the child’s community supports and family
Examples of job duties:
- Help a child who is non-verbal to master communication of their wants and needs through picture cards
- Assist a child who struggles with peer interactions to become more socially engaged or helping a child who is failing his classes to stay focused and complete his school work
- Lead weekly supervision for the BHT's who provide more one on one interventions with each client on your caseload
- Create and update treatment plans, coordinate data collection and feedback
- Provide assistance with crisis stabilization
- Provide clinical direction of services for each client
What we provide:
- Monthly supervision is provided for your cases
- Free supervision towards licensure or BCBA
- Small caseload sizes
